about
Born in Finland in 1992, Ninas Nordic roots are visible in the playful yet precise collection of works. An alumnus of Central Saint Martins College and King's College London, her background is in fashion design. Having worked in luxury womenswear brands in London and Paris, Nina moved to the Isle of Mull in 2020 and transitioned from design to a career as an artist. She set up her permanent exhibition in the loft of a historic church on Tobermory Main Street.

Through both a delicate use of watercolours as well as the opulence of her maps, Nina's work investigates nature through both intricate snapshots and broad observations. Inspired by the idyllic surroundings of the West Coast of Scotland, her work focuses on capturing moments and feelings of awe by embracing natural imperfections.
Stripped of traditional cartographic details, Ninas maps invite viewers to contemplate the intrinsic beauty of the land itself. By distilling the complexity of geography into pure form, these works transcend functionality, transforming even the most specific locations into evocative abstractions. To those unfamiliar with the places depicted, they become meditative studies of shape, texture, and space—revealing a universal allure beneath the surface of the familiar.

Her work has most recently been exhibited at the Royal Scottish Academy (Edinburgh), and Mall Galleries (London) with The Royal Scottish Society of Painters in Watercolour (RSW) & The Royal Society of British Artists (RBA). Nina's work has received funding from the Finnish Cultural Association and a nomination for Finnish Young Designer of the Year.
