In 2021, inspired by the unique shape of the Isle of Mull, Nina Tans started exploring the intersection of art and cartography. Experimenting with sculpting and painting, tools and materials, she pushed traditional techniques beyond their limits to achieve her signature sculptural style of maps. This inspired her to perfect a technique that produces exclusive, one-of-a-kind pieces cherished by collectors.

Years of trials with acrylic materials led her to a pliable resin-based medium, creating robust handmade maps as unique as fingerprints and impossible to replicate. Each stage of her process demands hours of meticulous planning, from researching landscapes to refining intricate details.
